My name is Tan Jiewei Jasper

I am currently playing bass trombone in the Singapore Armed Forces Band as part of my 2-year national service. Prior to enlistment, I completed a Diploma in Music Performance at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore, majoring in Bass Trombone under the tutelage of Damian Patti (Trombonist, Singapore Symphony Orchestra). I've been playing the trombone since I was 9 in the bands of Zhenghua Primary School and Dunearn Secondary School. In my free time I like to watch sports (particularly basketball and Formula 1) and also play pool. Other than that, my time is pretty much spent on something music-related.

Some music-related bio: I've been under the tutelage of Damian Patti (trombonist at the Singapore Symphony Orchestra) since Jan 2013. Prior to his appointment, I was under Fredi Sonderegger (then Associate Principal Trombone at the Singapore Symphony Orchestra). I have taken lessons from and participated in masterclasses from several notable trombonists such as Stefan Schulz (Berliner Philharmoniker), Csaba Wagner (Staatskapelle Berlin), Ian Bousfield (Hochschule der Künste Bern), Scott Hartman (Yale University) among others.

I have been actively performing in several groups in Singapore, starting off with the Philharmonic Youth Winds in 2009. Currently I'm playing mainly in the Orchestra of the Music Makers, The Philharmonic Orchestra, The Philharmonic Winds and Slide That! Trombone Ensemble
